Sometimes You Need a Professional, Not a Geek
(And What's Wrong With A La Carte Computer Services)
Geeks-a-Coming, Buy-a-Geek, geek this, geek that, everywhere a geek geek - a catchy name that brings in business and gives you confidence that someone who knows computers is working on yours. Often, they'll do just fine. But I see a good number of computers and computer users who still need help after their visits to BigBoxGeekStore or LittleShopOfGeeks. They'll repair common problems and tune-up your PC. But did they fix what you really needed fixing? Did they solve your specific issue? Is it really fixed or just masked, or more common, temporary? And sure, some of them know computers, but do they understand what you need from them for your business, or the level of help you need?
More Choices
Marketing trends in computer services are promising more for less and easier solutions. Historically, the only choice was an hourly repair or service rate, often with no guarantee, even for consumers. This was the nature of the beast because of its complexity and the impossibility of ensuring that the thousands of PC products and components available all work together in harmony. But since this is not really a consumer friendly model, the industry has changed. Flat repair fees and money-back guarantees are ever more common. The promise is that the consumer's computer repair or service will be a painless experience with no surprises on the bill. And for the most common and simplest issues or basic setup, that promise is often kept. There are portions of the market that wouldn't be helped without these models.
However, there are other times that isn't enough. It's great that if they don't fix it, you don't pay for it, but it's still not fixed. If you're trying to work or run a business, that doesn't help. A flat fee may guarantee a price, but it also guarantees limits on what that price covers. Got a bargain for a tune-up? You get a tune-up. If a virus is found, you have to add a virus removal fee. If a defective hard drive was detected, add a replacement hard drive, the installation fee, and another price for reinstalling your operating system. Oh, don't want to lose all those documents and pictures? There is a backup service for an additional charge. Need your other software reinstalled and back the way it was? Sorry, that's not even on the menu. A la carte repair and services can add up to considerably more than a custom per hour service would be and still not resolve your issue. Or you may still have to spend hours yourself reconfiguring your software.
Everything's Covered
There are still many times when even small businesses, home offices, and consumers need custom, more comprehensive computer repair and services, or can truly benefit from them. Therefore, to ensure the highest quality, I chose to continue providing custom computer services, tailored for you. Without the limitations of flat fees, under one low hourly rate for all services, all issues are in scope and can be dealt with on the fly, without worry. Remembered something else you need help with? I can help. Called for an Internet issue and defective memory was found? I'll fix the memory. Need to learn how to use that software we just installed? Glad to show you.
Even if sometimes this method adds a little cost, the increase in quantity and quality of service is many times more than the cost increase. And you will find the thorough and detailed work will ultimately save you money by reducing the number of times you need service, and increasing your productivity because your computer will work better, and you'll work better with it. You won't hear, "That's not covered under this service," because everything is covered!
Quality and Value
Other benefits to using me for your computer help add even more value. My approach to your computer needs is based on how you work and what you need from your computer, not what a geek thinks you should do or buy. Recommendations I give you are with your situation in mind, not a sales goal or commitment to specific products. Your invoice lists a full summary of all the work done and issues found, not just a one line service name. With your permission, a record is kept for reference, saving considerable time on future services. And when I offer specials for new customers, my existing and loyal customers get specials, too. You get personal attention and a level of professionalism that just can't be provided from a menu.
So next time you need assistance with your computers, any kind of help - repair, tech support, installation, upgrade, networking, office setup, security, customization, training, whatever you need - don't call a geek, call a pro. Save yourself some agony and money by calling or emailing for your own custom computer help, designed especially for you. I can come to your location, or pickup and deliver your computers FREE, or often take care of you remotely so you don't have to leave your chair. What can I help you with today?
